NC018 database issue resolved

2 March 2013 00:06:37 +0000

The overloading of the database that was causing intermittent problems with database-based websites on this server was resolved at approximately 20:16 UTC on 1 March by fine tuning the database configuration and allotting more memory to it. We apologise for any inconvenience, and are working on a longer-term solution.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact support. Thanks very much for your patience.

Server NC018 web server and database issues

1 March 2013 19:58:37 +0000

Server NC018 (the main hosting server) is experiencing database connectivity issues due to a heavy load, which means that database-based websites may be experiencing problems. We are working to address the issue at the moment, and will post updates here.

Server NC018 was under heavy load this morning

28 February 2013 12:48:24 +0000

Monthly reports that run on the server on the 28th of the month combined with heavy traffic from search engine bots combined to cause a heavy load on the server between about 07:20 and 09:20 UTC this morning. Server load has since returned to normal. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Server NC018 back to normal

22 January 2013 22:02:06 +0000

The entire email backlog was processed by about 17:00 UTC, and the server is back to normal.

Again, we apologise for the inconvenience. Please contact support if you have any questions or concerns about this incident. Thank-you again for your patience.

Server NC018 update

22 January 2013 13:46:15 +0000

The primary mail server is working its way through the mail queue, and the queue is being reduced at this time. This is an improvement over what was happening earlier.

We will keep posting updates until this situation is resolved. Thank-you for your patience, and we apologise for the inconvenience.

The mail queue on server NC018 (the primary mail server) is currently significantly backed up. We’re looking into the cause of the problem and will post updates here.

Server NC018 operating at full capacity

14 January 2013 11:13:45 +0000

We have stabilised the load on server NC018. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Server NC018 under heavy load

14 January 2013 08:29:20 +0000

Server NC018 — the server on which most websites and email are hosted — is under a heavy load at the moment. We are working to throttle services to bring it down to a more acceptable load, and are making progress.

SMTP on server NC018 restarted

27 July 2012 22:20:51 +0000

We’ve cleaned up the spam and restarted SMTP on server NC018 at 22:13 UTC. You can now send email again.

We continue to work against the spam, and are escalating the defences. We’ve seen a huge increase in spam the last couple of days from multiple sources, including from throwaway domains registered through a single, reputable registrar. Once we determine the IP addresses of that registrar’s mail servers, we’ll be blocking them until they stop hosting and doing business with spammers.

Once again we apologise for the inconvenience.
