NC031: Intermittent back-up issues

30 May 2018 11:33:20 +0000

A few scheduled back-ups have been failing over the last ten days or so on NC031 (the web server). We have brought this issue to the attention of the control panel developers, and we are working with them to resolve the issue.

In the meantime, only a small number of back-ups have been failing, not all of them. However, if you are concerned, please contact support and we will look at if or how your domain is affected. Thank-you.

NC020: Reboot

8 May 2018 00:38:35 +0000

Due to an issue with the FTP server on NC020 we rebooted it at 00:27 UTC. It was back online at 00:28.

Primary NinerNet website down

15 February 2018 10:29:34 +0000

We are aware of an issue with our main company website and some of the services directly connected to it (such as parked pages) that has started within the last 24 hours. We have not yet identified the cause of this problem, but we are working on finding it and fixing it.

This does not affect any client websites, nor does it affect email. It also does not affect most websites on sub-domains of niner.net — e.g., status.niner.net.

If you are having trouble accessing something that is on the root niner.net (or www.niner.net) domain, please email support.201802@niner.net and we will help you.

We apologise for this inconvenience.

NC020: Server networking issues

17 December 2017 12:27:45 +0000

Due to a misconfiguration of server NC020 by data centre personnel in response to a networking request from NinerNet that resulted from a change in one of their policies, this server stopped processing email properly earlier today. This resulted in some instability and the rebooting of the server three times between 07:22 and 08:06 UTC.

These problems affected only email processed for NinerNet domains, not any client email. However, because there are still a few client websites hosted on this server, including this status blog, these sites would have been down and up for some time this morning.

We have corrected the networking issue and have remonstrated with the data centre over the issue. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will endeavour to ensure that this does not happen again.

NC031: Database restarted

16 October 2017 21:30:51 +0000

The database on server NC031 was restarted at 21:25 UTC and is online and working again. We are investigating the cause of this issue.

NC031: Database issues

16 October 2017 21:03:09 +0000

We are investigating a database issue on server NC031 that is affecting database-driven websites. We will report details here.

NC018: Server back online

9 September 2017 14:39:20 +0000

No sooner had I clicked “publish” on that last post than the server was put back online. Again, we apologise for the service interruption.

NC018: Server taken offline prematurely

9 September 2017 14:30:56 +0000

Somebody at our data centre jumped the gun, and has taken server NC018 offline two days earlier than it should have been taken offline. This is (or will shortly be) causing a problem for all services on most domains, including our own.

We are waiting for the data centre to reactivate the server, and will update this ticket as it’s possible to do so.

We very sincerely and humbly apologise for this situation.

Access to control panel on server NC018

28 August 2017 21:16:37 +0000

Access to the control panel on server NC018 has been temporarily blocked while we deal with an issue on there. At this point, the only service provided by server NC018 is “nameservice”, as all client websites and email have been migrated to newer servers. Therefore the only reason you might need access to this control panel it to make changes to the DNS for your domain.

If you need to make changes to your domain’s DNS, please contact us with the changes you would like to make, and we will assist you as soon as possible. Thank-you, and we apologise for the inconvenience.
